London VRU (Violence Reduction Unit)
London's Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) was set up by the Mayor of London in 2019 to pioneer a partnership approach to tackling violence that is rooted in prevention and early intervention. We believe that violence is preventable, not inevitable. Our focus on stopping violence from happening is centred on investing in and providing better access to positive opportunities for young people, families and communities. It's also about providing strategic support in partnership with all 32 local authorities to prevent further violence following a critical incident. The VRU is working alongside young people, schools, parents, communities, and local authorities, to develop guiding principles for inclusion in education.
