This session is designed to equip senior leaders and educators with the knowledge and tools to understand student behaviour through the lens of racial inclusion. By exploring the intersection of race, bias and behavioural outcomes, participants will gain insights into how race and ethnicity can positively or negatively shape interactions within the school environment.
You'll gain insights into Hemisphere's cutting-edge research on how neuroscience and societal norms impact students' experiences and outcomes, with a particular focus on Black and South Asian heritage pupils. Participants will also hear from Elen Roberts, Executive Headteacher at Heartlands High School, who will share real life examples into how embedding racial literacy into staff training has improved behaviour, student-staff relationships, and improved academic outcomes.
Following the session, you will:
- Understand how racial identity, bias, and societal norms shape student behaviour and responses.
- Learn strategies for fostering racially inclusive environments that support positive behavioural outcomes.
- Gain practical tools for building racial literacy across your school community.
- Leave empowered to initiate meaningful, systemic change in behaviour management and student wellbeing.
